Smartplay’s management team has over 200 combined years of lottery experience. Our staff consists of conceptual artists, engineers, master craftsmen and marketing professionals. We have visited and installed equipment in over 100 lottery locations throughout the world. Drawing on this wealth of experience enables us to design and manufacture products that are visually exciting, designed for the studio environment and perform flawlessly.

Smartplay president, David Michaud has been designing, engineering and manufacturing drawing equipment since 1978. As former chief engineer of Beitel Lottery Products, he developed the well-known Beitel product line. In 1993, Mr. Michaud founded Smartplay International Inc. and developed the Smartplay models. Four years later, Smartplay acquired the exclusive marketing and manufacturing rights to the Beitel line. Since it’s inception Smartplay has served over 150 clients in over 70 countries throughout the world. |
| Executive Vice President, Thomas Markert is also formerly of Beitel Lottery Products, and has served the industry since 1987. He manages the manufacturing operation and serves as the main technical contact. He also works cooperatively with David to meet the custom needs of our clientele. | ![]() |

Mariana Burachok, marketing specialist and account executive, joined Smartplay in 2008. She holds a marketing degree from Penn State University. She is fluent in English, Ukrainian and Russian. Mariana handles our client relations and marketing direction. |

Peg Tiver is our Administrative Assistant. Peg has been with Smartplay since 1995 and is the first person you meet when calling Smartplay. She can help direct you to the employee to best answer your questions and meet your needs. |
Smartplay has assembled a highly trained technical team skilled in all areas of manufacture and service and are extremely familiar with our equipment. Only Smartplay International can provide technicians that are experienced working with Smartplay equipment. They are factory trained to calibrate the machines to factory specifications and to see issues before they become a problem.

Randy Craft, a former Beitel employee, is thoroughly trained in all aspects of production, maintenance and repair. He’s served the industry since 1984. As Service Manager, Randy manages Smartplay’s preventative maintenance service program and advises on general maintenance concerns. |

Wayne Ryba is Shop Foreman. Wayne has been with Smartplay since 1993, and is experienced in all aspects of production. He directly supervises the machine fabrication and manages product quality. |

Russell Wells has been with Smartplay since 2002. He serves as project engineer. He creates many of the detailed technical drawing used in the manufacturing process. Russell also travels extensively serving our international client base. |

Michael Rado joined Smartplay in 2009 as Director of Technical Products. Michael's knowledge in the application of computer hardware, software and networks helps Smartplay to integrate the latest computer technologies into new and existing products. |
Smartplay currently employs over twenty-five full-time, permanent employees to manage various aspects such as drawing ball production, electronics, engineering, acrylic fabrication, cabinetry, shipping and administrative tasks.
